About Woods & Seaton
Woods & Seaton started in spring 1973, and developed in two business areas, one providing information services related to the Computer Industry, managed by John Woods and the other concentrating on the use of systems in Automotive Distribution and Retailing, managed by Mike Seaton.
Notable events in the development of the automotive business have been..
- 1973: In the days before 'off-the-shelf' packages, design of a DMS for a very good dealer in the UK and management of its development and implementation. The system ran from 1974 to 1983.
- 1974 to the mid-1980's: Worked with other dealers and groups in the UK, on system related assignments.
- 1983 to 1997: Produced an independent systems journal for dealers in the UK. A news and advice channel - no advertising!
- 1983: Produced market analysis of Dealer Systems in the UK.
- 1988: Produced the first analysis of Dealer Systems in North America & Europe - a self-funded 6 month project.
- 1991: Started a regular information service on Systems in Automotive Distribution and Retailing.
- Currently: Evolving with the market and trying to be the best informed about the direction of developments in IT and business processes in automotive distribution - mainly in Europe and North America, but with some views of others.
We have always been totally independent and endeavour to be accurate and objective with our analyses and briefings.
